Follistatin 344
Follistatin is a naturally occurring protein that blocks myostatin, a molecule that limits muscle growth. It is being studied for muscle wasting conditions and performance enhancement. Gene therapy approaches using follistatin are also in development.

Overview of Follistatin 344
Binds to and neutralizes myostatin (GDF-8) and activins, removing the 'brake' on muscle growth and allowing enhanced muscle development.
Binds to myostatin with high affinity, preventing myostatin from signaling through activin receptors to limit muscle growth.
Also binds activins A and B, as activins have overlapping effects with myostatin on muscle and other tissues.
Removal of myostatin inhibition allows enhanced muscle protein synthesis and satellite cell activation, promoting muscle hypertrophy.
FS344 is full-length form that can be cleaved to shorter forms, and FS315 is another commonly referenced variant.
Being investigated as gene therapy for muscular dystrophy and muscle wasting conditions, with potential therapeutic applications
